You can see that our newspaper used to be called the Nelson Evening Mail; now it's the Nelson Mail so the word "Evening" has been whited out. The current Nelson Mail office is a newer building immediately to the he right of this one.

I was reminded of this paint effect course we took when we first came to New Zealand - it was fascinating stuff, and one of the tricks was to mix diluted paste, I think, and then dry the surface with a hairdryer. It achieved this kind of an effect, which I thought I'd try some day, but haven't. A woman in the class was trying to disguise a delicate wooden bookshelf look like an old metal piece quite successfully.
