Red Car

I've seen this red Citroën few times in last week.  It is well maintained it's looks and great condition.   We have lots of those classic card around and used in day to day.  Which... I think fantastic.

Higher and Higher

Price of coffee at Ben's work's student cafeteria.  Looks a bit high, for students in particular.  And don't get me started on the price of dairy products in New Zealand!!

How much do you pay for a cup of coffee?

Jolie! Jolie!

This shop would have to be owned by a French woman, wouldn't it?  An it is; Dominique from Bordeaux.  Depending on your vintage, imagine Catharine Denouve, Juliette Binoche, or Audrey Tautou in the dress.

Vintage Heaven is on Bridge Street.

Yeah, Right.

Clearly you didn't venture down the driveway! About one-third of the couriers don't bother actually coming to our house for whatever reasons; steep driveway, too many houses down the driveway, or is it our messy garden? I once waited all day gardening because Ben was waiting for something important, I had a handyman on alert, too, as he worked, and when we got the card to say we weren't home, I rang only to be yelled at because the driver "knew your bit of C Street very well", and refused to deliver. We had another who kept signing "signature required" stuff "Robin" on our behalf and leaving them outside.  Others leave stuff in the drenching rain.

But two-thirds of them do great.

New Gem

Three and a half weeks ago I saw this new garden shop in town.  I made a mental note to return and shoot it, but apparently I didn't go in to town for 22 days, so last night was the first chance I had.

It used to be a car rental place, according to Ben; it was locked so I stuck my camera between the fence grates, (is that what they're called?)  Then a woman called out, "Do you like my shop?"  It turns out she's been open for five weeks, so I must have found it when it was brand new.  It's fantastic to have a garden shop in town once again, and such a cute one!

I promised her I'll return another day when she's open; I promise you I'll get the name right next time, but it was something like "My Little Quarter/Half Acre".  Find her on Collingwood Street between Halifax and New Streets, adjacent to where NZ Nature Company used to be.

End of an Era

Jay Farnsworth's Red Art Gallery, as we've all come to know and love it, closes its doors on Friday.  New owners, two local women, will reopen with a bigger cafe area and with a new twist, keeping the same name.

It is sad for me as Red was my first outlet, and for a period, the only place in the Universe where you could buy my pieces, as JB once put it.  (Here's his bleeding sign shot.)  But then Jay has other plans, and it's time for both of us to move on.  Or so I am told.

Thank you, Jay and Red.

What would you put on the panels?

Found at Courtney Place, Wellington; "such as seen in NDP", we thought, until we got to the "attractive young women"; Meg prefers "puppies and blokes".

False Alarm

It was not a drill but false alarm.  I felt a clock ticking very slow from first hear the siren to actually see those engines.
