Rainy Monday Morning

I had the Suter Cafe all to myself while I waited for my, ummm, mammogram appointment across the street. Gotta do it every two years.

Car

What's a nice car like this doing in the Polytech car park? Students can't afford this, and staff certainly can't afford it. So there must be a consultant lurking on campus.

Ben finally bought a new roof for his 1989 Candy Car and is eagerly awaiting delivery. He is (we??) going to install it himself.

Lunch at Sprig and Fern

Friends Nancy and Mark love Sprig and Fern on Handy Street. It's a pub, their coffee is good, and they have nice pub food. On Friday Ben and I saw the pies in the warmer and had Pork and Porter (their beer) Pies for lunch. The red drink is their limited edition cider. Their staff are a tad older than other places, so you're guaranteed good service any time of the day, but if you want to go for drinkies you're advised to arrive early because by 5 it's standing room only.

What I really wanted to show you was the tomato sauce (as opposed to ketchup) container that was a Kiwi institution up to perhaps the mid-90's but is fast disappearing. We still have ours!

Multi-tasking

Yes, cup-holders on your shopping trolley. A couple of the supermarkets have had coffee counters for a while, but Fresh Choice on Hardy Street now have cup-holders. Me, I'd rather concentrate on the shopping and then sit down to have coffee, but perhaps busy mothers need this. What's your preference?

I converted to the B&W as I was intended to do when I took this. But I kind like colour one as well.

Red

Last night we went to see the Swedish film, "Everlasting Moments" (2008). A bleak and yet strangely uplifting movie, which may appeal to the photographer in you. It reminded us of the time and care we put into every photograph before digital came around.

eDay

Yesterday, on eDay, at around 40 collection points around the country, electronic waste (computer hardware, communication devices, digital cameras, etc) were collected for recycling. In Nelson, the huge ENZA (fruit growers' board) packing plant was superbly organized by an army of volunteers, so that we didn't even have to get out of our cars to have our wastes unloaded.

This year was the second year for this event, and we hope it becomes an annual event.

And this week, all week, is Conservation Week.

Grapefruit

refreshment during gardening ( if we do often) and very good for fresh juice. We have told this is grapefruit from the previous house owner. It's not the yellowy variety we all now, but taste like it than orange. It's totally organic, no spay as we are too lazy.

Cloud

I was bit lazy. I took through dirty window, so it's not quite perfect. I also heavily cut top and bottom to make this as panorama look. That is the back story. Well, thing is, I never be bored watching sky like this.

Those old Gas/Petrol pump must be very popular converting into shop signs. I quite like it, you know. It's photogenic,
