Hitchhikers

These two were passionately exchanging fluids for a looooong while, during which time I hesitated to shoot them, until two boys aged around 9 biked behind them giggling and staring, and a cars honked at them. They were, after all, trying to hitch a ride!

We don't see public display of amorous gestures in New Zealand much, so these two must be from away. On State Highway 6, outside Fairfield Park, Wakefield.

I want to thank Rita for suggesting I shoot the Caged Rocks in B&W way back; I don't think I would have thought of trying it myself.

  3. How did they indicate they wanted to hitch a ride? Waggle their tongues? Looks like they would have been intensely boring passengers unless they came up for air!

  7. You sure they weren’t just comparing dental records? :)

    Great mono again.

This could be the cover photo of a record album. Looks like it was arranged. I suppose all good photos do.

  8. Thank you for your visits, folks.

I guess we surmised they were hitching because they had a few suitcases around their feet, and because they were standing right by the road (on the far side in the pic.) Maybe there were just checking each other's fillings...

If it's a record cover, (and don't we miss the nice, big LP covers, artwork in themselves?) I'm hearing all kinds of bells and Indian instruments a la George Harrison.

Now go and smooch someone, y'all.

  11. I'm glad that you "shot" them! And you managed quite a classic retro style romantic photo, as they used to do them in the good old days...

    Cheers!

  13. Thanks, you two. I did scream "Get a ROOOOOMMMM!!!!" in the car on that day, but perhaps I'm getting to be an old fogie! The photo is kind of romantic.
