Done, Folks.

Paul finally performed a "minor dental surgery" on me yesterday. My face looks like a balloon, no solid food for the next couple of days, and I'm back on Penicillin again, but I'm not carrying a time bomb in my mouth any more, and that's good.

Dentistry and I have a long history, as do my parents and my brother. My sister, on the other hand, represented her school district in a Good Teeth contest when she was 16 or 17, and she never had a cavity until she became pregnant with her first child in her early 30's!! In her childhood, she seriusly thought she was adopted.

Oh, the photo is about 7 minutes old. At 8AM, purple gray clouds were hiding the Takaka Hills, but one by one the peaks started to appear like the curtain being lifted at the start of a play; we had heavy rain overnight, and the hills had snow. It's the second time this autumn, and the air is crisp and lovely. As I type I can now see all but two peaks.

  2. This photo is exquisite!!! i'd enter this one in the competition, frankly!

Sorry you had that dental problem, but I'm glad to know it's dealt with. A girlfriend of mine nearly died from abdominal infection that originated in a decayed tooth. Yeowch!

  7. Thank you for your visits, people.

By the end of the day, the right half of my face is so swollen (was expected) that I look like a squirrel or a chipmunk with one too many seed in my mouth. The right half of my nose is stretched so far that... ummm.... my nostrils are of different shapes today. But all is good; I was warned. I am peacefully in a codeine-induced mellowness all day. Sorry if my typing is a bit slurred... I hope to be more coherent in a couple more days.

  8. This photo is like a religious revelation - makes you want to sing hymns!
I came to ask how was your dental adventure, and got my answer. I went throught the chipmunk stage too ;-) And ate a lot of ice-cream without feeling guilty (always looking for the silver lining).
Glad you are pain-free and joking around...And if you can take such gorgeous photos, I won't worry about you ;-)

  10. Thank you all for visiting. It's Day 3 and my right eye doesn't open all the way - I feel like an extra-greedy chipmunk this morning. Ben keeps bursting into laughter when he sees me - and we can't help it. The right half of my face feels like a pimple that's ready to be popped.

  13. Thank you, guys. Often the sun/cloud/hills create a spotlight/Mr Bean situation in places. This morning, however, was almost 120 degrees of cloud-and-light show, and it was great.

  19. I grip the arm rests of the chair so hard my hands turn white and cold, so the assistant has to massage my hands sometimes. I'm such a wimp.
