Not a Lot of Pics Coming Out of Burma

Saturday, at Page & Blackmore Booksellers.

For a small town like Nelson, quite a few refugee families arrived from Burma in the last two years. Several friends are actively involved in the refugee support program.

  1. I didn't know people were able to leave Burma now. I pray there will be no more blood shed.

  2. Yeah, I wasn't sure how, and they might even be coming via another country, but last year there were two groups, and then this year at least one, but I believe there was a plan for two. Ditto about bloodshed, Rita.

  3. I didn't know that the Burmese are able "to take refuge" in NZ. (The reason I used double quotes is that there is a term called "taking refuge in Buddhism")

  4. It's been going on for at least a couple of years, if not longer, Hyderabad. Interesting, eh.

  6. Yes, it is, and yet I find myself somewhat blaze about it; I think I have been inundated with bad news this century and somehow knowing Burma is not the only place where bad things happen seems to "justify" my not worrying about Burma every day. I know it's terrible.
