The Lunar Eclipse in the NZ sky tonight. This was taken in front of our front door. I only have a 210mm zoom and this is the best I can do. I need your 500mm, JB.
I know your pain I only had a 200mm lens as well (ordered a 1.7 teleconverter yesterday) I like the way you have framed this as the moon needs space for the total effect to work
Yeah, Keith yours a good 200 and can take TC. But mine cannot, it makes too dark. It is not sharp enough to my like... but you are right, It ends up quite good balance with space around. I didn't even think about time-lapse but, hey, yours a excellent!
This is great, Ben. I really like the white highlight on the upper right, and also the way you composed this image, as Keith said. I went out last night and got some shots of the "sturgeon moon" like this. Mine on Flying today are from early in the morning of the eclipse.
Still, a good shot of the eclipse. I remember back in March when I took a shot of the lunar eclipse. I uploaded it to flickr and people went crazy about it! The moon is a popular object for photographers!

That's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteSally from Syd also caught it. It was raining in Singapore, so we could only catch it via Webcast! haha..
Watch the eclipse via the Discovery Channel website live webcasting.
Great shot Ben. Don't know much about lens but I think this picture is just fine.
ReplyDeleteWell done! Much better than my lame efort. But I still wanted to record it.

ReplyDeletePerfect poster-like image. I'd frame it and put it on the wall!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had beautiful clear skies over Nelson.
Cheers!
Great photo! Since I missed the eclipse due to cloudy skies, I'm glad you caught it.
ReplyDeleteThanks all!
