What Kind of Sneakers Do You Like?

While waiting for a dental appointment caused by psychosomatic pains Monday afternoon, I found the Autumn 2007 edition of the Time Magazine Style and Design supplement (Pacific edition); in it, I found everything I needed to know about the current A-List sneakers around the world. In Tokyo and Paris, people pay $395 (US$, I think) for a pair. I was disappointed Sydney didn't feature, and learned New Zealand had fallen off the world map, again.

It was fun picturing many of you wearing the high fashion sneakers in your cities. And at the bottom are my far-more-expensive-than-I-expected-and-not-even-pretty pair.

  1. Well Meg, I'm afraid I'm not high fashion at all. I have my grubbies on now. Nothing nice about them but for all the work we are doing for the renovation I don't have to be a fashion Mave...
Hope your dental work will make you feel better soon.

  2. Well, Photowannabe, I had to get my new ones because my old ones literally came apart - the heel peeled off the sides one day!! I don't think I ever wore out a shoe like that before in my entire life!

  3. Hi Meg, if you didn't have to pay for the dentist you would be able to afford A-list sneakers!

  4. Touché, Louise! Especially Paul; he's a good dentist, and I wouldn't go anywhere else as long as he's practicing, but some years we spend a substantial proportion of our income at his practice. Oh well, at least he has a waterfall just outside the waiting room. (Yes, an artificial water feature to hide an otherwise unattractive wall!)

  5. When I saw this spread, I though of what a great blog entry it will make!

    Well done!

As for me, I'm not throwing my old sneakers away but would love to know what's hip in Nelson and Auckland for that matter!

Pity that NZ always proves difficult to fit in magazine map printout, but Time Mag should have known better.

The sneakers theme would be also great for a DP theme day, don't you think?

    Cheers!

  6. Yes, I do, a great theme. I also saw a good one over at Nathalie's Sydney Daily Snaps: what is your hobby outside photography and blogging. Ben's still thinking.

Nelson this summer, definitely those colorful clogs (is that what they are called?)... Not a fan of them, myself, but my 76-year old mother went home with a pair!

In Nelson this summer, definitely those colorful clogs are the rage. I can never remember their names?)... Not a fan of them, myself, but my 76-year old mother went home with a pair!
