I didn't "get" this theme; some of Bob's examples were of people from the waist down, others were shot from a low angle; we disagreed on the interpretation of the theme for the entire month, but most of all both of us felt uncomfortable shooting people below the belt. So this is NDP's best shot. (But it does have the light-and-shadow like Bob!)
Today is Theme Day. Other DP Blogs have also shot people (from) below the belt in their cities. Please click on the numbers below to view them.

Interesting compromise. Love the scooter!
ReplyDeletethis is an interesting take on it. cool motorbike.
ReplyDeleteCute scooter and I would think it would be hard to shoot below the belt too.
ReplyDeleteYour right. Shoot people below the belt is awkward. Your choice was very good.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. I like this type of shot more than the "legs" type. I really like the color of the scooter.
ReplyDeleteToday is Aids Day, as you know, and there were two drag queens with legs up to my eyeballs collecting money in mini-skirts and high heels. I guess I could have shot them had the theme day been tomorrow. One had the most elegant, beautiful face, too, but they were both over 6ft tall, and their hands were enormous and the collection bucket seemed tiny. I didn't know whether to talk to them and ask if I can shoot them, or try not to make eye contact; in the end I was a chicken.
ReplyDeleteGreat take - yes, you're right, Bob did both. And i rather fancy bob was lying on the ground most of the time, til I discovered he often just palced his camera there!
ReplyDelete:))
ReplyDeleteanyway this is a lovely scooter. the light is really great...
i like this theme day photo.

the shadow is great, meg and it brings out the lime green, Nice!
ReplyDeleteNice compromise, as someone said already.
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem. Finally, I put a pic of a building from the ground down. Very interesting though. Visit Athens DP and take a look.
Low angles are so expressive and there's so much to take in in this photo!
ReplyDeletewho cares how the shot should be taken as long as it's good. and this one is good.
ReplyDeleteohhh ....wonderful shot!

Thank you, people, for visiting and for your comments. I must say, the color of the scooter is what first caught my eye, too. Cute, isn't it? One really MUST wear a helmet of matching color when riding this baby.
ReplyDeleteSally, you know Ben uses a Canon G3, and I don't like it because the LCD panel is a postage-stamp size and I can't see very well, but the LCD swivels, so you can put the camera on the ground and you can still "look down" on the LCD to see what you're shooting - that's one thing my spiffy new Panasonic hasn't got that might have worked for this "assignment". I did date a guy who was into all kinds of macro shots and I remember being on a "date" at the glasshouse in Como Park in St. Paul where he promptly laid down in the puddle to shoot just one whatever flower it was. I must say, at 26, I was not prepared for it, but from memory, the photo came out great.
Eddie, it's the educational systems I went through, I guess - I keep second-guessing what I'm expected to do! And I'm getting too old to worry!!!!!!!
sounds good to me - the scooter matching up with that theme. I've been too too busy to even check on the theme this month - I was sorry not to participate, but, ya know, life goes on. HOpefully I'll get it together enough for the next one...
ReplyDeleteThe light is what I find most interesting in your shot Meg. Good attempt and a great photo in the end!
ReplyDeleteThank you, ladies. This "theme day" was a loooooong month!
