Because Nelson Hasn't Got Enough Cafes...

Well, not really. But it appears the Provincial Museum is remodeling their lovely quiet gift shop and opening up the Trafalgar Street side to create yet another cafe. I'm not complaining. Even with the many we have already, summer from midday onwards between this time of the year to about Easter they get pretty full; I'd just like to see some personality by way of interesting cakes and desserts rather than more of the same-old-same-old... Oh, and small cakes, please, for those of us under-tall people. (That term was coined by Rita of Dallas just for moi!)

A few more Museum pics: this and this are the Hardy St side, so the new cafe is around the corner; this would be above the cafe entrance; and this, sans the car, would be approximately the view from your seat.

  1. Hmmmmm....great - the more cafes the better for me! But I have the same lament for small cakes & desserts. Sydney is getting the idea now, and you can have a two bite delight that satisfies without overloading the carbs. It is the French Patisseries that excel, shame there are not more of them. Hope the frontage of the cafe has more character than the glass wall on the other side. Lesley Expat Kiwi

  3. I hope they have nice cakes. I hope they have nice cakes. I haven't been able to stop thinking about cakes for a fortnight now, and yesterday at the Lloyd Harwood opening at the Red Gallery, all the people passing food around went around me, so I got just one tiny piece of sandwich. It was good, but no cake....
