Petrus, for sure. Especially considering it takes a lot more than 15 min to build the thing, and a whole lot more than one tradesman to build it. Sad, isn't it....
Sherry, I'll try to remember that! (Probably a boring old shop or something, though...)
Meg, I have a photo taken a little more elevated from just a little further down the road of this exact spot. If I recall this is the Nelson Girls College. From the angle I have taken it looks like these properties are part of the college and maybe built 1940's or newer. It would be tragic if the 1900-1930's bungalow to the left goes the same way! Lesley, the background is the Girl's college, but the demolished house/s were private residences. Do you have a digital photo? Would you like to send it to me to I can post and compare?
Meg, I have sent the photo I have to your info@megweaves.co.nz address. It is not a very good before comparison shot though, due to the distance and angle but you can see where the houses are/were better by blowing up the picture. Cheers, Lesley Expat Kiwi

It's often difficult to remember what was there originally .. a lot of history can be wiped out by a bulldozer in 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see what the space becomes. I hope you will update when construction is finished!

Thank you, Lesley. We decided it was too difficult to see which ones were demolished, but we thank you nevertheless.
