They closed quite a few (possibly nearly 10) years ago so this, too, can be demolished and yet another waterfront apartment built, but this hasn't happened. The shop moved into a smaller premise in town on Bridge Street, carrying mostly brass parts and smaller ornaments (and a bit of junk), but that shop closed last month, and we must go to the super/mega/discount hardware stores to buy lower-grade brass parts.

But the wooden doors are wonderful ... dws~11
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Great image and great choice! Cheers Ben!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sad. It's always wonderful to go through old house parts — such treasures can be found among them. Like this door! It's beautiful.
ReplyDeletethose wooden doors are superb and hopefully would be sold for reuse and not demolished. it sounds like it was a cool parts building at one time.
ReplyDeleteNice composition. The wooden doors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSad that the business moved and then eventually closed. Your theme day contribution is the third I have seen which reflects on the metaphor of closed doors for closed businesses .. good interpretation and wonderful memories of a shopping experience from the past.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to visit places like that, sorry to hear it closed. There's a salvage place like me with lots of cool victorian hardware and lights. They have a couple of cats that hang out there too that complete the look. I like the flat photo style, shots like this taken slightly off square hurt a little.
