Since the quakes in Christchurch begun, particularly after the Feb 22, 2011 one, public buildings in Nelson are being inspected, presumably more carefully. Several have undergone strengthening, and several have been condemned. Here, on Colllingwood St, stood a lovely wooden two-story home which, since we came to Nelson, was variously a shop, a gallery and a methadone clinic. Ben tells me this is going to be yet another retail complex. Please, please, please, no more
ugly (IMHO) monstrosities.
