A Victim of Art Theft?!

While I was toiling away with paint and stuff, a scarf of mine (on far right) was stolen from a craft exhibit in town on Saturday. Ben reckons it's because my scarf was the most attractive piece that could be carried away without being noticed in the entire exhibition! The gallery called the police and I had to submit photographs, but somehow I doubt I'll ever see it again. I hope it'll be worn and appreciated, though.

  1. Very sad to read that. Just hope indeed it is for so fell in love with it and will enjoy it (but how can one enjoys what he stole?)

  3. Having anything stolen from you is a terrible feeling! You are kind to hope the thief will enjoy it.

Putting myself in the thief's shoes, I'd have to say, "Such a beautiful scarf! How can I resist?"

He/she risked arrest and embarrassment to steal your scarf!

  4. I cannot imagine what goes on in a person's mind while stealing such a distinct piece of art! She/he must be afraid of wearing it. Must have either been a momentary lapse of judgement or a person who does this routinely and knows how to make a profit out of other people's labour! I am so sorry this happened to you, especially with such an exquisite sample of your art!

  5. George Townboy, you're too kind.

Merisi, I keep having this mental picture of my running into the person wearing it in town! I think I'll ask if I can take a photo if that happens.

  7. Oh Meg, that makes me sick. I'm so sorry and wish you would get it back but it probably won't happen.
    You do such beautiful work.
    Happy Easter anyway...

  8. Urang Awak, yes, you know it!

Sue, I have to say, I'm slightly amused at the entire incident, actually. Not sure why, but it's a lot better than angry, especially around Easter, I reckon.

  9. somehow it's a backward compliment - hopefully the same person, some time in the future, will have enough money to actually pay you for something they love.....

  12. Jay said you'd be at the opening at Red last Tuesday, but I was so tired I was in bed by 7.30 that day, after a weekend in Blenheim and an afternoon at Sue's gallery. Good thing the weather's been good to you, and that you're enjoying Nelson.

This one opened in early Feb, JB.
