While Ben was on Staycation...
State Cinema turned yellow. Ben's been on staycation for the last week and a half and we noticed for the first time yesterday on our way to the PO. I think the color suits the Art Deco style. Do you like it?
I can't remember if this was the last time, but I posted another facelift in 2008.

Brigadoon Island?
We've been having uninspiring weather of late. Tuesday, we had fog, but not just white morning fog. At one point, in town, one street was clear and the next was covered in dark grey fog, so strange I even rang Ben to ask if there was fire around his work two blocks from where I was. Nope, just patchy fog.
In August 2006, we started Nelson Daily Photo after discovering Beirut Daily Photo that day. Our thoughts are with folks in that beautiful city.

Red-ish Carpet to The Palace Backpackers
Friday was cold but sunny, and one could not walk past and not see these steps leading up to The Palace on Rutherford Street, not only because the carpet (?) was bright and cheerful but also because we have steps of rough concrete with which we could do something similar.
Funny how I've seen gazillion interesting things done with steps around the world on the Internet and yet it took something local, and in real life, to realize, hey, maybe...

Not Bad for a Point-and-Shoot?
This guy is pretty and big, but also mean and chases other tuis away from this tree, and greedy as it didn't even take a break while Ben stomped not two meters away to and from the compost bin, making a lot of noise with the lid.

Well, gradually... and we are now seeing a hint of bright light at end of long tunnel.

We Dream of Roma
Every summer a local grower/veg shop allows us to pick our own tomatoes, and other veg; this year we were allowed into the tom patch after Waitangi Day but we didn't get there until yesterday. We picked about 25kg of Roma for slow roasting, but may have to go back, as last year a friend taught us about cauliflower pizza base and 16kg didn't last us a month as we had night after night of vegetarian pizza.

Sunset
Sunset on last night, quite spectacular show again.
According to weather news, there is small effect of Australia bush fire smoke across Tasman. This time it largely covered north island and top of sooth where I'm at.
It wasn't obvious to me like last time ..
About minuets later see the effect of smoke on top half side little more, where it usually get little more blue shade on when sun goes down.
Happy New Year and Kia Kaha to OZ friends.
