Bit of confusion!?

I love this building; it was the nurse's dormitory or some such in the early days of Nelson Hospital. I have not heard about moves to save it, I assume it is to be demolished, but perhaps somebody in the know can correct me, in its original use or fate.

Grape

It's a try-out of the newly acquired vintage lens (Tamron 70=-150 F3.5) , I have mounted on GX1 via adapter.

This is young grape in our patio.   It seems to be very good number of fruit on this vine, we had pruned back to almost nothing in last year.

Eventually, it will be a big feed for birds.

Sound of ...

I've hard a beautiful sound from somewhere while looking around in central town.   I was looking back to near the corner of Trafalgar and Hardy street, where this lady was playing a Chinese harp .  Look closer to this picture and imagine the sound, it's beautiful.

One of many jewellery/accessory shop in market.   The Nelson Market is open every Saturday,  I may see you there some time in the future.

It was very aromatic around there.  They were offering free tasting and many customers were ordering just after the taste.  It must be good.   I had a spice sausages from other place just before, may be next time.

Hot Day

No clouds on this scene.  There are a little but mostly blue sky!

Rain !?

There have been buckets of rain just about 20 seconds. Sky is still gray and there are gentle water drops from sky but we need more...

Storm Cloud

This is about starting the thunder and lightning, yesterday.   Unfortunately, there were not much rain and we still needed to water vegetable patch.

Two Tuis

Sorry this is a highly touched-up shot. I heard these two singing to each other and looked out - my camera was pointing straight at the sun but I got one shot, and then tried to stick my arm out of the window when the top one flew away. Perhaps they will be back tomorrow?

LUCAS

This was a tile and flooring store, and in the space to the left a garage, on Halifax Street; we assume the old building/s had to comedown for earthquake safety, but don't know for sure. This mosaic sign was hidden under another, (painted?) sign of the flooring store. Does anyone know if Lucas was the name of the original tile store by any chance?

Not Shallots

Books and mags tell me to dig up the garlic when the tips of the shoots turn brown. Well, some were ready, some seem too tiny, so I dug up about one third yesterday. Still, the first time in ten years of trying that I actually got "many" (i.e. more than one) garlic shoots from cloves from half a dozen bulbs! And, lo, the shallots are not shallots but baby brown onions, and they are not even the ones with tall flowers from yesterday.

Not Garlic

I remember planting gazillion garlic and a few shallots this year, but I hazard to guess these flowers, slightly taller than me, are from neither. I may put in one brown onion the year before last. Or the year before that. Oh, the joys of haphazard gardening!

Shower

It is quite gusty and many clouds outside today.  I saw a gap and some shower of rays coming through. 

(It is slightly tinted to cooler white balance. As a result, the blue is little bit enhanced on the picture.)

New Year's Day

Unfortunately, there is a very little blue sky patch today.  However, it gives me this dynamic formation of low cloud over the hills.
