Bumper Crop

We have a fig tree right outside our office window. The tree is so tall all the fruits are reserved for birds, as we can't reach any of them. There are years when we have many fruits, and other years when we have big fruits, but this year we had a bumper crop of many big fruits. Our bird-watching season usually last around 2-3 weeks, but this week it's gone on around 6, I think.

The yellow was eyes are the most vicious and most years we watch them chase away all others, but this year because of the abundance, they are sharing. This winter, when all the leaves are gone, we have to trip this tree severely, so we get a little bit of a view and some sun.

  1. The yellow eyes could be minas, they usually chase all other birds away.

  2. Is that what they are called, Bill? They are extremely aggressive, and sine the weekend there have been much fewer fruits left, and I don't see any other kind of bird on the tree today. They are even chasing each other from the remaining fruits!
