Theme Day: Best Photo of The Year 2008

This was the best photo in a series of four posts about the oil rig that visited Nelson. The original post of this image was on 17 July. The rig first first appeared on 31 May; subsequently it was on 9 August and 27 September. Following the last post, it was just outside the bay still visible from Rocks Road because the weather condition was still bad; apparently these rigs require three or four days of calm water to move on safely. The rig has not returned so I guess it's finally really gone.

Happy New Year, everyone!

  8. Meg and Ben, this is quite an honor to be so chosen. I have enjoyed all your photos and would have picked you as winners, even with some others that you took. Thanks for letting me learn again, about how a photo should look, by viewing all the great ones you take.

  12. Ben, fun choice from among you and Meg's many fab shots this year. I love all the geometry going on, and all the vertical columns. You two are such dear, sweet, helpful, and kind blogging friends. I'm so glad to be in this CDPB community with you. Yesterday I got to meet Michael, one of the frequent commentors on Eric in Paris' blog. He is an American expat working in Paris and was on holiday here in Seattle. He is planning a trip to NZ in 2009, and I hope he will get down your way. The world is a small and friendly place among the city daily photo bloggers! Thanks for making your corner of the globe such a fun place to visit. Happiness and good health is my wish for you both in 2009.

  16. Thank you for your visits, everyone, and may 2009 be colorful, saturated and in high-contrast to you all.

Kim, "dear, sweet, helpful, and kind blogging friends" must refer to B. I'm as erratic and haphazard as I've always been ;-)
