Cherry Blizzard

Whatever petals that remained after the rain on Wednesday is blowing away today. Moments before this, there was a strong gust from the lower side of the hill, (right) which caused a pale pink cloud to dance up in the air. So, until next year!

Yaza!

Yesterday in the howling rain Pat and I went to the gallery to finalize our contract and then had coffee at Yaza! to go over details. Yaza! gives their own fortunes and mine was this.

A Fleeting Moment

Cherry Blossom season is also windy and often rainy in Nelson. This was yesterday afternoon. (Excuse the mess in my stash room.) Today it rained heavily all day.

Ladies' Night

At Bunnings Warehouse, the Australian-owned hardware store, and probably the biggest competitor to Mitre 10. And in Nelson, both stores are about the same size, and the garden department, on par with each other. I think M10 has more interesting pots, whereas plants may be slightly cheaper at Bunnings. Bunnings' sausage sizzle wasn't in use on Saturday.

"Beginnings"

Page & Blackmore, the only independently-owned bookshop in Nelson, kindly lent us window space to promote our (Meg and friends') exhibition. When I approached the window this evening, a man was looking carefully at the display, stepped back and read the poster.  Needless to say, I was pleased.
Stella carefully chose not only the subject of the books but also the cover design and colors. Thank you so much, Stella and P&B.
This is what I'm talking about.

M10

Mitre 10 hardware store is a New Zealand-owned chain, and Meg gets Gray Power discount so it's her first port of call for hardware, cleaning, and garden needs. Usually there is a group selling sausages, (grilled right there, with some onions), as fundraising; school groups, sport teams, special interest groups. Today was Bird Club's turn. Meg was pleased they not only had brown bread, but did not automatically butter all their bread. I was just happy to be allowed to get one between meals.

Last Night, in Front of the Fish and Chip Shop...

A nice man had on an interesting outfit - a shirt (under his black vest) and a pair of pants with tree branch motif printed on - which, in an urban environment, stood out. On closer inspection, I realized it's a hunting outfit. Which brought to my mind two questions: do they come in different colors and trees depending on the animal they are hunting, and if I had cones of yarn printed on cloth and  made an outfit would I disappear?
