Box

Of all the modern new additions to Nelson, this has definitely been the most talked-about in a while. Granted, this is the back end of the sporting good shop, but as you can see, it has no windows, and until last week it was bare, gray concrete.  And I'm not sure how they intend to, you know, deter graffiti.  Even I'm tempted to take advantage of the big, blank canvas!

Collingwood St.

Again with G3,  I composed and push the shutter and get camera down as it was quick shooting by while crossing the road.  As you can see, this reminded me how large the shutter lag with this camera was.    When I composed, it was straight and there was more sky, but I kind like this accidental blind shot... may be a excuse?...

Light

It's a kind of from my archive but just scanned and processed last weekend.
It is a scan from negative film.  If I recall correctly I have used the 85B filter to correct the white balance of this daylight film.

Cold but Pretty

In many parts of the country, we've had severe cold weather, including snow in the subtropical Auckland, this week. The 'event' has been referred to as "Polar Blast" ("of 2011" in future, no doubt) Surprisingly, there have also been pockets which escaped the event, for example, Wanaka, with no notable precipitation in spite of its relative proximity to Queenstown, where they had the biggest dump of snow in 60 years.

Though it's been cold, (and DWS reported "snow" in Richmond for about 7 minutes on Monday,) we have escaped any eventful weather events. (Read the slight disappointment?) It has been cold, but nothing out of the ordinary, sunny, relatively still and the air crystal clear. The hills have had fresh snow, but not as nearly as low as three weeks ago.

It's been so nice, this reluctant gardener even spent a couple of hours spraying weeds yesterday.  And signs of spring are everywhere.

Don't Ask

Don't know.

But the flags, we know: both the Italian and Russian teams have two games each in Nelson during the Rugby World Cup: Italy v USA, Italy v Russia and Russia v Australia; the last was originally scheduled for Christchurch.  I'm not sure if Nelson has ever had the pleasure of receiving the Wallabies before.

In Case You Missed It...

Rugby World Cup is being held in New Zealand in about a month's time.  Nelson is the official home of the Italian Team.

All Blacks players have been flogging all kinds of products all year, more than any other year.  I don't know who Ted is, but this here is the coach, Graham Henry joining in the extracurricular activity.
